I came into a mystery tong gifted to me from a student I tutor. Her father is from Beijing, and according to her, is also a tea drinker. This tong was gifted to him after doing a friend of his a favor. The friend happens to also drink tea, and lives in Yunnan. I suppose she must have talked to her father about me, and he decided that as a thanks I suppose for tutoring her, to tong me up on this tea. She brought it back after Winter break, and so here I am with a tong of tea. According to the wrapper it is a Mengsong Old Arbor tea, from 2015. No info, no company, no neifei – no nothing. This is just one of those white-label “could be anything” teas. The leaf looks absolutely beautiful and I enjoy how mellow it is in body and fragrance. I’ve had a lucky run the past few days. A free tong is a free tong. I also found an extremely cheap broken wine fridge to upgrade my storage. With some more teas coming down the pipe, I can’t wait for the fridge to sheng up in fragrance.
